Frequently asked questions
How accurate is the design?
Roof area is computed from your traced outline (sub-1% accurate at house scale). Panel layout uses 1.7m × 1.0m 400W panels with a 0.5m setback. Annual generation uses regional irradiance from PVGIS averages. It's a confident estimate — your installer's site survey will refine it.
Does this account for shade from trees and chimneys?
Not yet — shade modelling and a sun-position slider land in the next update. For now, avoid placing panels where you can see shade in the satellite image.
Will I get a real quote?
Not from this tool directly. It's a free design — take the screenshot to any MCS-certified installer and they'll quote against it. Works on mobile too: the satellite fills the screen, controls collapse to a bottom card.
